The aim of the Medicines Helpline is to support CNWL patients and/or carers with medicine-related queries following outpatient attendance or discharge from hospital.
The medicines information pharmacists have particular skills in locating, assessing and interpreting information about medicines and provides support for patients and healthcare staff who have questions about medicines. The team answers enquiries service on all aspects of drug therapy and aims to support the safe, effective and efficient use of medicines.
Service users and carers can call the helpline and speak to a pharmacist about their medication.
Examples of questions could include:
- What is my medicine for?
- How long will it take for my medicine to work?
- Will my medicine cause side effects?
- Is it safe to take with the other medicines I take?
