Chinese Mental Health Association

The Chinese Mental Health Association (CMHA) provides a diverse range of services with the aim of serving Chinese people who suffer from mental health related issues and problems. They also provide support for carers who may not be familiar with all the nuances of traditional Chinese culture. Their services cater to all ages and socio-economic backgrounds.

Their services include:

- Befriending for 18+ year old Chinese mental health service users struggling with social isolation
- Counselling in English, Cantonese and Mandarin (one-to-one, couples and family counselling)
- Housing support for vulnerable people in Barnet
- Personalisation: help for ethnic Chinese individuals with mental health problems and other long term support needs to apply for a personal budget
- Wellbeing Club aimed primarily at Chinese Elders who wish to improve their physical and mental wellbeing
- Yao Yao Social Club: a social space for ethnic Chinese sufferers and recoverers of mental health problems as well as their carers, families and friends

The CMHA is actively involved in providing direct services, increasing mental health awareness, representing the wide spectrum of Chinese mental health issues in public forums and raising its profile in the overall Chinese community.
