Nedaye Zan means Voices of Women in Dari. Through peer advocates, The Nedaye Zan project empowers members of the Afghan community in Harrow experiencing mental distress to tackle cultural mental health stigma and articulate their needs to service professionals. It aims to:
- Help reduce the sense of isolation experienced by Afghans with mental health difficulties
- Help increase well being and self-confidence of Afghan mental health service users
- Provide advocacy and interpreting support to Afghan mental health service users to help them understand and access mental health and other social welfare services
Nedaye Zan runs free fortnightly sessions giving attendees support and information, facilitated by an Advocate and Peer Educators. Lunch and refreshments are provided. The sessions are held at The Lodge, 64 Pinner Road.
Advocacy services are available to Afghan women who are having difficulty accessing appropriate mental health services.
