Islamic Resource Centre

Islamic Resource Centre is a charitable organisation offering free services to the community in a number of languages including; English, Urdu, Punjabi, Arabic and Persian. IRC is an equal opportunity project aimed at meeting the needs of the community.

Their work includes:

- Counselling, support and advice services to provide help for individuals and their families, working together to provide them with practical solutions or referring them to appropriate organisations for specialist support and help

- Activities for adults of both genders, including English as a second language (ESOL) classes, IT skills, and sewing classes

- Regular support classes to support children from the age of 6 to 16 with Maths and English

- A counselling outreach service that goes into schools, hospitals and the wider local community

- Mentoring for those who are socially excluded and lack independence due to cultural and language barriers

- Short projects and seminars on healthy living, healthy foods and cooking focusing on cultural dishes from around the world

- Ladies only basketball classes on Wednesday evenings from September to April

- ESOL classes on Wednesdays from September to mid-July

- Ladies only walking group for all ages and fitness levels on Tuesday evenings from April to June
