On Your Side

On Your Side is a pioneering service to offer peer advocacy/information to navigate through the welfare and mental health systems for adults experiencing multiple barriers to access the right support at the right time in Harrow.

Our volunteer advocates will help people to deal with the welfare benefits system, accompany them to assessment meetings or access timely mental health support. They will also empower them to understand their rights, to make informed choices and self-advocate at meetings with professionals.

Those 18 years or over, ordinarily a resident of Harrow or has a Harrow GP. The Client requires peer advocacy to access mental health support or for welfare benefits. The client is accessing no other advocacy services.

The On Your Side team will check eligibility of the client and will conduct an assessment of supporting needs. If eligible, the client will be matched with a trained peer advocate with an agreed support plan to achieve their goals.  The service can offer up to 6 sessions over a period of 6 months to a 1 year. The meetings will be in community settings.
